1. Who we are

This policy explains how Sytemap Technologies Limited (“Sytemap”, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use sytemap.com, the Sytemap app, Sytemap OS and our related services. It applies to buyers, prospective buyers, estate developers, agents, partners and visitors. You must be 18 or older to use our services.

2. Your consent

We ask for your consent when we collect your data, and we also rely on other lawful grounds such as performing a contract with you or meeting legal obligations. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place.

3. Data we collect

Data you give us

• Identity details: name, date of birth, government ID and photo
• Contact details: phone number, email and address
• Purchase details: plots, payments, payment plans and your chosen nominee
• For developers and agents: business, bank and payout details

Data collected automatically

• Device, browser and usage information, such as pages viewed and actions taken
• Approximate location and cookies (see section 9)

Data from third parties

• Identity and verification checks from licensed providers, and payment confirmations from our payment partners

4. How we use your data

• To verify your identity and carry out due diligence
• To process payments, allocate plots and issue your documents and digital land record
• To calculate and pay farm rewards
• To provide support and send updates about your land
• To prevent fraud and keep our services secure
• To improve our services and, with your permission, send marketing
• To meet legal and regulatory requirements

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where needed to provide our services or where the law requires it: with payment, verification, hosting and communication providers working under written contracts; with estate developers and agents involved in your purchase; and with regulators or law enforcement when legally required.

Public ownership record

To prevent double sales, plot allocations are recorded on a public ledger. Public records identify the plot and transaction, not your contact details.

6. International transfers

Some of our providers store data outside Nigeria. When data leaves Nigeria, we use the safeguards required by the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

7. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to:

• Give you a copy of your personal data
• Correct data that is wrong or incomplete
• Delete your data, where we no longer need to keep it
• Restrict or object to how we use it
• Tell you when we transfer it

8. How we protect it

We use encryption, SSL, firewalls, access controls and staff training to protect your data, and we hash land documents on the blockchain so records cannot be quietly changed. You are responsible for keeping your login details safe.

9. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and understand how our site is used. You can control cookies in your browser settings, though some features may stop working.

10. How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you use our services and afterwards for as long as the law requires, for example to keep transaction and ownership records.

11. Data breaches

If a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the regulator promptly, as the law requires, and explain what we are doing about it.

Our site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and tell you about important changes.
